Spanish newspaper AS revealed that negotiations are currently underway for Samuel Lino's return to his native Brazil. Flamengo and Atletico Madrid are in talks to conclude a deal worth €25 million, with Lino receiving the same amount on a five-year contract.
It has become clear that Leno may leave the club this summer, as Atletico Madrid has offered him to other teams. The Brazilian had a mediocre season last term, and it appears Atletico Madrid has decided to capitalize on his sale.
Leno spent his first season on loan at Valencia after joining from Atletico Madrid, and returned two years ago, shining in his first season.
However, he failed to secure a regular starting spot last season. Marca reported that he had received offers, with clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Napoli interested.
Earlier on Thursday, media reports indicated that Atletico Madrid is in negotiations with Stuttgart midfielder Enzo Milot, whose release clause is set at €20 million. A deal has yet to be agreed, but it appears he could be a potential replacement for Leno if he leaves.
If the deal is completed, it will be a lucrative deal for Atletico Madrid, who signed Leno for €6.5 million, making a handsome profit of €18.5 million, after a strong showing in the early years under Diego Simeone.
Last season, Leno played 47 matches, scoring four goals and providing eight assists. With Alex Baena and Conor Gallagher in the lineup, Leno's opportunities to play on the left of the attack appear to be less, while Matteo Ruggeri can also play at left back.
