Inter Milan confirmed to Reuters that striker Mehdi Taremi is stuck in Iran after failing to secure a flight out of the country amid its dispute with Israel. Italian media reported that the 32-year-old will miss the Club World Cup.
Iranian airspace was closed after Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran on Friday.
Taremi participated in Iran's 3-0 victory over North Korea in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at Tehran's Azadi Stadium last week.
Inter Milan begin their Club World Cup campaign on Tuesday against Mexico's Monterrey in Pasadena, followed by two matches in Seattle against Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds and Argentina's River Plate.
Taremi made 43 appearances for Inter in all competitions during the 2024-25 season, scoring three goals.
