Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has expressed his hopes of participating in the Club World Cup after suffering a long-term injury last season.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal suffered a serious knee injury last October and quickly set his sights on the upcoming Club World Cup as a key milestone in his recovery.

"I've been out of action for a long time, and from the start we saw it as a challenge to get into the best possible physical condition for this World Cup," Carvajal told FIFA's official website.

He continued: "We are doing very well. Having that on the horizon makes it even more exciting to come to training every day, knowing that you can contribute to the team in that tournament."

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to be the undisputed starter at right-back during the Club World Cup, while Carvajal continues his cautious return. The Spain international has yet to complete a full training session with the squad, and a rushed return at this stage would be risky under any circumstances.

However, Carvajal believes he will be able to get some minutes in the upcoming tournament, an encouraging step that could help him build his fitness ahead of the 2025-26 season.
