Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé said it's impossible to predict whether he will win the Ballon d'Or, given the competition with Barcelona stars Rafinha and Lamine Yamal.

Dembélé, who left Barcelona in 2023, enjoyed a stellar season with Paris Saint-Germain in 2024-25, helping them win a historic treble, including their first-ever Champions League title. Things could only get better, with the European champions participating in the Club World Cup this summer.

Speaking to France Football, Dembele expressed his opinion on the possibility of winning the Ballon d'Or, saying: "It's difficult to say (whether I will win it). But winning the Ballon d'Or as a footballer is undoubtedly the Ballon d'Or on an individual level. It's something you dream of since you were a kid. It was amazing."

"I think I've been consistent this season, so we'll see what happens. It would be great to be on the list, and to be one of the favorites is a really big win, though I hope to win it one day," he added.

Lamine Yamal is considered Dembélé's main rival for the award, and during the interview, he recalled his first impressions of the talented 17-year-old, whom he briefly played alongside at Barcelona.

Regarding Yamal, Dembélé said: "They've been talking about him since he was a child at Barcelona. When he joined the professional team, we realized he was exceptional and had reached another level. In training, he was dribbling, creating assists, and scoring."

Dembélé also spoke about the huge influence of former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique on Paris Saint-Germain, saying: “With a coach like Luis Enrique, you know that if you don’t defend, you’ll go to the bench and someone else will replace you. For me, a striker shouldn’t cheat, he should make an effort all the time, defensively and offensively, to help the team, not just when attacking. Thanks to that, Paris Saint-Germain became European champions: we all defended and we all attacked.”
