Saudi club Al Hilal is hoping to lure Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to the club, while the Red Devils have also expressed interest in signing Pedro Gonçalves as a potential replacement for Fernandes, according to the Mirror.
Manchester United are preparing to sign Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Gonçalves as a replacement for £100 million-rated Bruno Fernandes, a Saudi target.
The Red Devils had been tracking the 26-year-old Portugal international before Al Hilal caused a shockwave at Old Trafford by announcing their willingness to pay a hefty sum for Fernandes.
If Fernandes decides to accept a three-year, £180 million contract with Saudi club Al Hilal, it would give United the financial resources to meet Sporting's £70 million valuation of Gonçalves.
Signing Gonçalves would help ease Ruben Amorim's anger over losing his captain. Fernandez has scored 19 goals and provided 20 assists for a struggling team this season, but he is 30 years old, while Gonçalves is 26.
