Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have contacted the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen player Florian Wirtz to express their interest in signing him if he leaves the club and wants to move to the English Premier League.

The 22-year-old striker is among the most sought-after talents in world football, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City also interested.

According to the British newspaper "The Athletic", Liverpool has long admired Florian Wirtz, but it is unclear whether Wirtz intends to leave the team or the country in which he currently plays.

If this possibility arises, Liverpool would be willing to consider signing him, which is why the club is among those in contact with the player's representatives regarding the matter.

Wirtz was a key player in Leverkusen's title run last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists to lead Xabi Alonso's side to their first-ever Bundesliga title.

Wirtz has become one of the most prominent players in European football after a remarkable 2023-24 season, in which he won the Bundesliga Player of the Year award, as Leverkusen went undefeated domestically and reached the Europa League final, losing to Atalanta.

Wirtz continued his impressive form in the 2024-25 season, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists in the Bundesliga this season.
