Argentine Lionel Messi continued his historic scoring streak in Major League Soccer, scoring twice to lead Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory over Nashville.
Just days after becoming the first player to score multiple goals in four consecutive MLS games, Messi did it again, scoring both goals as Miami continued their climb up the Eastern Conference standings following the Club World Cup hiatus.
Eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a left-footed free kick that found the only gap in Nashville's defense and slipped past goalkeeper Joe Willis.
Miami dominated the first half, but just four minutes after halftime, Hany Mokhtar equalized for Nashville with a header.
Messi scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute, when he took advantage of a huge error by Willis, who misjudged a pass and passed it to the Argentine to score.
With his two goals - following his brace in Wednesday's 2-1 win over New England - Messi took his tally to 16 goals in 16 games this season, level with Nashville's Sam Surridge, who was unable to add to his tally of 16 on Saturday.
