Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has reached an agreement on the terms of his departure from the team in the coming period.
Press reports revealed that Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid and take over as coach of the Brazilian national team on an initial one-year contract until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
According to the British newspaper "The Athletic," talks are ongoing with Real Madrid regarding the details of Ancelotti's departure, which largely depend on reaching an agreement on his salary for the remaining year of his contract.
The 65-year-old coach signed a contract extension in December 2023 until 2026.
She added that a verbal agreement has been reached, and pending formal procedures, an official announcement confirming Ancelotti's departure is expected before the end of the league season, possibly immediately after the El Clásico match against Barcelona next Sunday.
The newspaper explained that Real Madrid must decide who will lead the team in the Club World Cup, with Xabi Alonso, the technical director of German club Bayer Leverkusen, considered the most prominent choice.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Alonso is Real Madrid's preferred choice to succeed Ancelotti.
Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Arsenal, lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona in extra time last month, and are four points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga with four games remaining.
