Polish referee Szymon Marciniak has responded to the criticism he received regarding his handling of Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg between Barcelona and Inter Milan, which the Nerazzurri won 4-3. The criticism he faced, particularly after the match, has been met with widespread condemnation.

Inter Milan qualified for the Champions League final after defeating Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has criticised the referee's decision to award Inter Milan a penalty during the match, saying: "It was clear that Lautaro Martinez was looking for a penalty, and in my opinion, the referee made a mistake in the decision. He should see who touches the ball first, who reaches it first. It's Coparsi. For me, it's clear that it's not a penalty, and you can't blow a whistle for a play like that, especially since it looked like a clean tackle. My position is clear: I'm against these decisions that distort football."

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick also criticized the referee's decisions after the match, saying: "I don't want to talk too much about the referee, but every decision was in Inter's favor. I'm disappointed. I don't like talking about the referee. I told him what I thought, but I won't repeat what I said here."

Marciniak responded to these criticisms in exclusive statements to Cairo News, saying: "Your comments are ridiculous. What can I say about these stupid comments? I didn't wrong anyone."

Regarding the possibility of Barcelona filing a complaint against him with UEFA, he added, laughing: "I'm ready for anything."

Regarding the criticism he received regarding the invalidity of the third goal, he concluded: "Inter's third goal was definitely valid."

It is noteworthy that Inter Milan will meet the winner of the match between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
