Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano admits his team "knew" what Milan would do in the Coppa Italia final, so he feels they "deserved" to win the Italian Cup.
Milan lost 1-0 to Bologna in Rome on Wednesday in the final, thanks to a second-half goal by Dan Ndoye.
Bologna secures qualification for the Europa League next season.
"After some disappointments, I think we deserved this win, especially since we played a great game. It was an amazing performance, and we knew again what Milan would do in the second half, so we returned the favor," Vincenzo Italiano told Sport Mediaset.
"This amazing year has been crowned with this trophy, which these fans deserve," he added.
Italiano reached three finals with Fiorentina in two years, losing the Conference League twice and the Coppa Italia once.
He continued: "Those were also three big disappointments, and honestly I didn't think I would be able to return to the pitch so quickly and win, but I did, and I dedicate this victory to these exceptional players."
He concluded: "We faced some difficulties at the beginning, but then we grew stronger as individuals and as a team, and now I will celebrate, it is wonderful."
