Manchester City striker Erling Haaland said reaching a third consecutive FA Cup final while closing in on Champions League qualification is not enough, and that the club had a "horrible season" after failing to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title.

Haaland told BBC Sport that his team's players weren't good enough this season.

He added: "Reaching Wembley is a good habit, and winning trophies is very important. We have the FA Cup final ahead of us, and despite a terrible season, we managed to do it, and that sums it up."

He continued: "When you win four league titles in a row, if you don't win five, it won't be a successful season. These are the standards we set. We didn't perform well enough in the league, but we still hope to qualify for the Champions League."

Manchester City face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

"We haven't been consistent enough this season, and of course we've had injuries throughout the season, but we shouldn't look for excuses. None of us were good enough and we weren't at our best. So when you're not at your best, you can't win games in this country because it's very difficult."

He concluded: "It was terrible to get injured, and it's not fun to see the team play, but we have to make the best of this opportunity and try to get back as soon as possible, and I'm very happy to be back with a lot of energy."
