Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has advised Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to coach the Brazilian national team.

Ancelotti will take over as Brazil coach after his final La Liga commitment with Real Madrid on May 25, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Monday.

However, the green light from Ancelotti only arrived in the last 48 hours, after Real Madrid saw their title hopes dashed by Barcelona on Sunday in a 4-3 El Clásico defeat.

Ancelotti has now signed a one-year contract until the end of the 2026 World Cup, with an option to extend his contract until the 2030 tournament in Spain, Morocco and Portugal.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Manchester United midfielder Casemiro played a role in his appointment as Brazil coach. Ancelotti contacted the Brazilian midfielder, who is set to be called up to the national team after being left out by Dorival Junior, for advice.

The Spanish newspaper explained that the two had spoken on various occasions since Casemiro's departure from Real Madrid, but Ancelotti called Casemiro and asked him about his opinion on the idea of him coaching the Seleção.

Ancelotti left the discussion more convinced of the idea, softening his objections. Furthermore, the newspaper added that Ancelotti would have another boost, namely Neymar Jr., who is also set to return under his leadership, and the recall of another United player, who is on loan at Real Betis, namely Antony.
