Bayern needed to beat Leipzig on Saturday to secure the title, but they drew 3-3, leaving the tie in doubt.
Leverkusen could have postponed Bayern's coronation until next week had they won today, but their stumble officially handed the title to the Bavarian giants.
Leverkusen raised their score to 68 points in second place, while Bayern Munich leads the standings with 76 points, two rounds before the end.
